A west coast hardwood, Alder is close grained, of medium-soft texture, light honey colored and may easily be stained to resemble practically any of the most expensive hardwoods. It is easy to work with. It stains, glues and sands very well.
Laser Compatibility: All Diode and CO2. Note: Glowforge does not recommend using MDF in the Aura or Spark. We have tested the MDF and it cuts well but creates more particulate matter which can raise issues with the filter. Venting outside seems to be fine as well as cleaning the machine after but you can decide if MDF is used in your Spark or Aura
